KRX Invasion 2022 Windrock Tennessee

 June 24, 2022

Me and Wonder Woman headed down to Windrock for a weekend date. And they just happened to be having the KRX Invasion this weekend. How about them odds. LOL

Some beautiful views from up on this mountain. We are on the rim here, not even to the top.

My lovely bride didn't want to ride with the big group today due to the extremely dry conditions. It's gonna be a dirt eatin", dusty ride for those that chose to go. Big turnout for the Invasion.

Christine was quite surprised when I told her I had put her AR-15 in the truck. I remembered Windrock had a nice outdoor range and she had never shot steel targets before. We had a nice afternoon, met some folks that we enjoyed shooting with. Wish I had some pics but only captured this video as we were leaving. There was also a small group a young men there and the attendant was taking pictures for them when they finished. Christine did really good considering she had a stroke just a couple months ago.

Well, today is a whole different ballgame. Christine was too weak for a long, dusty ride with this bunch so she stayed at camp and napped most of the day. There were so may buggies that they had to break groups in half and round up some more lead drivers. A BIG "WELL DONE" goes out to James and Desiree Hubert of Brute Performance for an outstanding job of organizing this event.

Lunch stop....had a little action while here.

This was the Waterfall on Trail 80,
but no water. It is drier than a popcorn fart in these Tennessee hills.

This is the action I referred to. One of our ladies almost stepped on this Copperhead when she got out of her buggy.

It was big enough to do some harm. But he didn't.

Plenty of options at Windrock......everything from easy gravel roads, to rock crawling and more.

Short video of us leaving the Pavilion and driving thru the Main Campground to the trails.

Another Windrock Trail......today's ride was mostly easy stuff. This was from Day 1 with Christine aboard. Just a casual ride on the mountain.

Don"t remember which trail this was...just another clip from our early morning ride on the mountain.  Beautiful scenery and weather..Video may get better as it converts to HD. Still playing with a new Hero 10 GoPro and have a lot to learn between now and our Colorado/Moab trip in August.

We felt the need to stop off at the Playground on the way back to camp. Several did a bit of hillclimbing while there. Everyone seemed to enjoy todays ride....only one buggy had a flat tire and one lost his tool box but recovered it. Gotta call that a good day. I hurried back to camp to see if Wonder Woman was feeling up to going to the BBQ dinner at 6:00.

She was not only ready but fired up and hungry.

Along with everybody else.

And what a meal it was. Pulled Pork, Chicken, Two kinds of Beans, Tater Salad, and all the fixin's....... My woman in the pink hat and I feasted. Lots of door prizes and 50/50 followed.

Even the "dog and friends"  behind us feasted too.

Everyone went away fat and happy........and looking forward to next years KRX Invasion.

Thank You James and Desiree of Brute Performance.

Cars and Coffee Event at Cave City, Kentucky

 Saturday, June 4, 2022

Beautiful Day in the country for a casual ride to Cave City for their Annual "Cars and Coffee" event.

First things first, get parked, take a picture then start walking.

Just one of many beauties.

Side note: Christine and I drove this exact style car, 1940 Ford Coupe from Long Beach, California to Bowling Green, Ky pulling a You Haul in 1964...just days after we were married.

Except it was Black.

How about this rear engine powered Corvair truck.

You don't see that every day.

Cars of all types....

Original old Ford..

Souped up old Coupes..

Long, Lean and Low

Station Wagons..

To a restored Honda XR75 dirt bike...Like the one I taught Jimmy to ride back in the 80's.

The Ladies that own "The Dive" are responsible for holding the "Cars and Coffee" event.

They are doing a great job of reviving this old small Kentucky town.

Keep up the good work Ladies.

You should see what they have  done to the inside of this old pool room/bar/cafe..

They even brought in some live entertainment..

A talented young Country Singer from the area. Sorry, I forgot his name.

On the stage behind the 41' Willys Coupe.

Great turnout of spectators...

especially for a small town event like this....

The ladies are doing something right

And to top it all off I met up with this group of Banditos from our local HOG Group. Left to right Sheila Jane and Dawg...Bobby Powell ( known him since the early 70's)...Paul and Mary Jo Reinecke...Pam Powell....and yours truly.

So many cars, so little time...hope you enjoyed the tour...
