Everybody is fired up and ready for our first day of riding these cliffs..

Wonder what is in store for us?

Got more videos if I can get the Hero 4 Camera to communicate with the GoPro App.

So far no luck...

Kevin and I took a short ride to Texas Lakes while the rest of the group went to play in the dirt somewhere else. Maybe, just maybe, they had enough of following me thru the Rocky Mountains and figured to play it safe.

Following Texas Creek back the trail about 7 miles from camp.

Good close-in ride for today.

Kevin got to experience a totally different kind of trail riding on this Adventure out West.

Most all of the Blue Trail had been closed to traffic but we managed to find a section with a creek crossing that we could use.

The entire area is a fisherman's paradise and that could be the reason for the closings.

We understand the importance...

On to Moab, Utah in the morning so time to get back to camp and pack up for an early departure...See ya'll in the desert.

Ride to Pitkin, Colorado

Stopped to close the gates at this operating cattle ranch. Fully equipped and ready for the seasons roundup.

We pass thru here several times when going to different areas to ride.

Pretty simple instructions, if the gate is open....leave it open.

If the gate is closed....close it back.

Just another beautiful day to drive thru this open range area on our way to Pitkin for lunch.

Longest mileage day so far.

Just spectacular.....

Arriving at the Silver Plume General Store in Pitkin, Co.

Neat little mountain town with a fantastic mining and railroad history.

Williams Pass and Williams Gulch

This pass is only open for one month out of the year.

We picked the perfect time to add this one to our list.

Add another Continental Divide crossing to our Journey.

We crossed over the Divide four or five times this week..

This one being Hancock Pass,

elevation 12,140 feet.

I think we are down to about five or six buggies now.

Several turned back at Pitkin and rode the easier Cumberland Pass route.

Now we are in Railroad History land...If you are a railroad buff you should Google:

Alpine Tunnel

Williams Pass

Sawmill Curve

and read this amazing story.

My friend Jim Lockwood probably already know this history.

But I will encourage him and his RR friends to check this out.

I made this one extra large so you could see across the canyon to spot Rocky and Denise.

This is the amazing part of the story..

In the background of this picture is the railroad bed around that rock mountain, hand built in 1880.

The support wall was also hand built by shaping each rock by hand tools and placing them together to form a wall with no concrete used.

And we are riding on the old railroad bed today. What a feat. Also somewhat scary if you think about the fall down the mountain if you make a mistake.

This section of the Railroad was called the Palisades...The support wall is in the picture to the right of the men....goggle it...

And the ride back over Tin Cup Pass was not exactly a piece of cake either..

This one says it all...

But we all made it back in time to enjoy so fancy Hot Shots.....I don't remember what they are called but were really good....

Gonna take a couple days off from this video editing and run down to Nacogdoches, Texas for a few days. Checking on our next adventure.....Stay tuned.

Preparing for Riders Meeting, waiting on the Slackers

Seems we don't have as many riders today, rumor has it that yesterdays ride took its toll on several bodies. I think we have about 12 today.

Three very fine men right there..

But Rocky, Denise, and wonder dog CHEVY are always ready to go.

Sorry for the quality of this video clip......I was holding two cameras at the same time and both were pointed too low. My bad, I'm still practicing.

Some of those that survived the toughest trail so far....It wasn't nearly this rough when we rode it in 2018...Guess the four years of wear and tear made the difference. This sport/hobby is growing leaps and bounds every year. This shot is at the entrance up to Taylor Pass and Taylor Lake, on our way out.

Big Day--Ride to Flag Mountain

This will be a big day, about 19-20 machines are lined up and waiting for our Riders Meeting.

I begin each day with a meeting but this will be the most important. I will go over the effects of altitude and what everyone should watch for.

Many brought Oxygen as I had previously recommended. I also discuss trail etiquette and dangers of steep drop-offs on the way near the top of Flag Mountain. This is a precarious ride and most have never experienced altitudes of 12,000 +.
