DAY 1 of our Black Hills Adventure

 September 1, 2020

Getting ice for the coolers as we head out from Wild Bills Campground.

Came across this 1878 Cemetery just a short distance from the trailhead.

Just the first of many overlooks as we make our way to the top of this ridge.

Probably the shot of the day...maybe of the whole trip.  Jimmy, as he contemplates the World and what it’s future holds. We are so proud of our son and who he has become.

I came to a screeching halt as I saw this view from the ridge trail. What a picture. Usually we would just blow by and never see the beauty these hills offer but today we are slowing down and smelling the pines.

Another view of some of the beautiful hills and cliffs along our trail.

Would you believe it, we had to turn around at this point. The gap between the rocks was too narrow and a deep water hole just below those big boulders. We had to take the high trail to get around this.

Following Jimmy in his RZR XP1000 as we make our way around the creek bed. But hey, we tried.

I will try to get a couple of videos in here...usually don’t get much success with this. It’s really hard to drive thru this rough terrain with one hand and bold an IPhone with the other hand. Plus the blog sometimes won’t accept the video.

More trail shots, more rocks. But you gotta love the scenery.

An old Lodge along the trail.....at least that’s what the sign on the building said. Looked like a very small private cabin to me.

Check back tomorrow for another day of pictures.

  1. What a day! That is a butt busting ride over 60 miles😬 The view is worth it I’m sure. Looks like great weather. When in Deadwood stop at Kevin Costner’s Bar. Pretty neat costumes from his movies. Great little western town. Stay Safe
