Heading out this morning after waiting for the tides to come up a little
We have some shallow spots to cross on out way to Little Harbour today.
The water color is breathtaking.
more to come when we get Wifi.
Some more of the Bahama waters on our way south thru the Sea of Abaco.
Sandy beaches along the way, some private, some uninhabited.
Not as much "people activity" after you get out of the Tourist hub...Marsh Harbour, Hope Town, Man-O-War, Treasure Cay, etc...
Once we arrived at our anchorage destination I decided it was time to clean the bottom of Mystic Lady..Her Boot Stripe still had some of that Caloosahatchee stain and the water line was beginning to get hairy. Too much marina time and not enough time underway will do that to her.
We are anchored at the southern tip of Lynyard Cay...the water is crystal clear and makes for some good snorkeling (or boat cleaning in my case).
I was tee-totally worn out by the time I had made two trips around the waterline of a 53 foot boat. Whew...
I didn't have much lead left in my pencil after my morning chores but we did take time to dinghy over to Sandy Cay....one of the best Cays in the entire
Abaco Islands to go snorkeling.
However, the current was so strong and swells from the nearby Inlet too big for us to snorkel.......Whew, got out of that.
On the way back we stopped off at one of the uninhabited islands to let Annie run the beach.
Christine went hunting driftwood and sea shells while Annie sniffed the bushes and wallowed in the sand.
Back to Mystic Lady to cook up some vittles.
Thursday, April 19
We have one more day to wait for the seas to settle down a little more before crossing the Northeast Providence Channel to Spanish Wells so we will dinghy across to Little Harbour and visit Pete's Pub.
This is a shot of a house or houses ?? on the hill just before entering the Harbour. What a sight.
This cool little hut greets you as you boat into the harbour.
We thought is was the world famous Pete's Pub but actually it was Pete's Pub Yacht Club.....a private affair.
The Pub is on around the corner.
A little video of our ride up to the actual Pub and Gallery. We glided our dinghies right up on the beach, jumped out in water about ankle deep and proceeded to order some lunch and drinks....how cool is that.
Kinda like riding your "Harley" right up to the bar in Daytona and ordering a drink....been there, done that.
We've been in a few bars and pubs with dollar bills hanging all over the walls but this is the first one with tee shirts hanging everywhere...
And the sand floor gives this place a top notch rating from the crew of Mystic Lady...Annie really thought it was just for her.
Without a doubt....the best little pub in the entire Abaco's...
After some tasty Trigger Fish and a couple of specialty house drinks (Blasters) we wandered around the grounds and checked out the gallery and Pete's foundry.
Some beautiful "and Pricey" bronze sculptures are on display in this building.
We followed this neat walkway over the hill to the Atlantic side of Little Harbour....WOW...
Pete has this bronze sculpture mounted top a rock on the way over to the ocean side.
His sculptures are famous around the world and on display in places you would never expect.
Google..... Pete's Pub or Pete Johnston for more on this family.
And when no one was looking I slipped into the back door of the foundry to take a look around.
This is the real world working shop of Pete Johnston.
And my Little Chick Magnet strikes again.
This girl was with her family who were anchored over at Lynyard Cay on a 58 foot Nordhavn..
They were headed back to their homeport in Maine.
While on the Atlantic side I snapped a good pic of Christine and her boat buddy Michele from "Just Us". Dave laid back and had another Blaster while we walked and gawked.
The scenery here is priceless....
Annie says it's time to move on and find another uninhabited island so I can roll in the sand and play in the surf..
On our way out of Little Harbor we glided past this rock formation....click on the pic to enlarge.
She managed to find several beaches on the way back to Mystic Lady.
Her and the Admiral wanted to check out each and every one.
We island hopped for about an hour...
Christine was experimenting with the IPhone.
Trying to get a shot of me through a sea shell with a hole in it.
She finally got it done after about 8 tries.
She kept saying she needed more fingers..trying to focus and shoot and hold a shell and a phone....what a woman.
Another surprise on another beach.....
It might be uninhabited today but at times it must be a party place for pirates.
Complete with picnic table, hanging tree art, and a fireplace made of sea shells.
Our last night at anchor here off Lynyard Cay gave us some beautiful sunset pictures..
Enjoy..
No doubt the best sunset yet is this whispy cloud formation with the moon in the background.
This unique formation was the only cloud in the sky.
Sweet dreams....I'm going to bed.
