Cruising down the St. Lucie Canal on our way to Moore Haven for the night.
Got lots to do to get Mystic Lady ready for her summer lay-up.
Nice day to stroll down the river.
Even crossing Lake Okeechobee was a piece of cake although the winds picked up as the day progressed.
We saw 2 foot swells building to 3 foot.
It was a long day with three locks to transit.
The boat behind us followed us closely ever since leaving the St. Lucie locks.
The captain called on the radio and asked if we had any local knowledge concerning the lake crossing. He wanted to follow us. I told him it was probably our eleventh or twelve time and would be glad to give him some pointers.
We were docking at the same place for the night and got to meet them the next day. Bill and 'Rhonda were very grateful for our help........it can be a stressful trip the first time...

The canal leading into River Forest storage facility is also a bit stressful.
Seems like Mystic Lady just ain't gonna fit.
But she does....
Total miles traveled so far = 864.6
I guess there is just no rest for the wicked.....
As soon as we get Mystic Lady tied up to her new roost I am helping Howard finish up his 138 foot long dock.
He has built the best looking dock facility in South Florida....and we call it home for the summer.
We have lots of work to get it ready before we can leave.
I think Howard and Mary were glad to see us arrive...
They have been working on this project for months. Not to mention the house they remodeled and the yard Mary is landscaping.
I helped finish up the last 5 bays of this massive dock.
Howard said he didn't think they would ever see the end.
But here we are....just a few more deck boards left..
We met our friends Howard and Mary on our trip to the Bahama's over three years ago.
This in one hard working couple and they have become really good friends over the years.
Time for a lunch break at Ortuna's newest addition.....
and only addition.
This little community could certainly use a nice Tavern..
Great place for a Burger and a Beer.
Our lunch was great and the Tavern is really cool.
Sunday, May 13, Mothers Day
Today we try to beat the rain that is coming.
We are finishing up the ramp leading to the West End of the dock.
Howard designed the dock with two ramps, one at each end so he could drive his golf cart to the boat to load and unload supplies. The man is ingenious.
He also bought this old utility truck to drill the holes for the pilings and set every one himself. We used it to remove dirt from the seawall edge rather than a shovel. We will probably finish this project in the rain..
Annie watches as Howard and I set the stringers and backfill the seawalls.
Mystic Lady looks real comfortable in her new nest.
Since we arrived we have finished the 138 feet of deck, installed and wired three pedestals for electric service, finished up the ramp, plumbed in the water, backfilled around the seawall to get ready for the grade work and new yard. And that's just in two days....more to go when it quits raining,.
